Carried
through
My youngest son, Everett, is a miracle - there’s no other way to put it. His story is one that you won’t find mirrored in statistics or in a typical medical textbook, which meant navigating the absolute unknown was something that nobody around me could relate to. I quickly realized there’s an entire community of Natural Minded Mommas who also spent time in hospitals depending on medicines they’d otherwise never consider, and making decisions they never envisioned themselves making.
While I was grateful to have an already established platform at the time which allowed me to quickly find other families who could relate to what we were going through, it still felt incredibly isolating. It has left me with a passion and desire to hear other families “one in a million chance” stories of their own miracle babies - how they navigate the impossible, the decisions they never thought they’d have to make, and all the little things in between that make their family so special.
Something that carried me through even the worst days, perhaps the only thing that carried me through those days, was my faith in God. I’ve never had to fully surrender my family and our future until I found myself begging God to save my brand new baby who was quickly placed on ECMO. Because of my faith and my absolute dependence on Jesus Christ, I’ve decided to name this section Carried Through. Here you can find stories of other families like mine, and maybe like your own, who have been carried through the absolute worst times of their lives. Some of these stories have happy endings, and some may not, but they all are proof that we are never alone, no matter how lonely we may feel.
If you have a story you’d like to share, please send it to me at Hello@naturalmindedmomma.com so I can feature it here. Keep it short, make it long, share anonymously or include family photos - whatever you are comfortable with.
My prayer is that this will make the lonely moments feel less lonely, reminding each other we’re not alone in this calling, and celebrating our warrior kiddos - together.
